2000 Spays and Neuters Animal Rescue and Adoption2000 Spays and Neuters Animal Rescue and Adoption is a non-profit organization whose initial mission was to neuter, spay, vaccinate, provide emergency care and find homes for 2,000 stray dogs and cats. Today, having achieved this goal, the group visits classrooms, bringing animals and coloring books which teach children how to take care of living creatures and educates them about the importance and responsibility involved in having a pet. It also works with Humane Societies and other rescue organizations throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean to spread its rescue and adoption models.

As part of their mission, the organization provides programs and services such as veterinary care, trapping dogs and cats from the streets and then turning them in for foster care, covering the cost of medicine, vaccines and surgical supplies and of spaying and neutering prior to putting up companion animals for adoption, and giving grants to various pet and humane societies to care for strays or unwanted pets.

The group showcases their rescued furry pals at Petco 2475 Broadway as well as at Petco on Lexington and 86th Street.
