Cares4PetsCares4Pets is an independent and non-profit animal welfare organization whose mission is to care for abandoned, orphaned, and homeless pets in Philadelphia, find loving and responsible families that will provide them with their needs, rehabilitate each furry friend through medical treatment and behavior correction, and to spread the word about responsible pet ownership and proper animal care.

It started out as a small-scale rescue group established by veterinary students who saw the need for this kind of facility in the Philadelphia area. The founders originally worked internally—finding homes for dogs and cats within the veterinary school and the hospital community until it became an independent organization in 2005.

The group values the contribution of the community in their quest to saving the lives of homeless companion animals in the area. Some of the ways to help them include committing to foster a pet; donating items such as dog and cat food, crates, pens or carriers, cat traps, bowls, leashes and collars, towels and blankets, cleaning supplies, and grooming supplies like shampoo and clippers; helping out with activities such as screening homes, paperwork, transporting animals, and planning and staffing adoption events and fundraisers; as well as making safe credit card donations via PayPal.

Cares4Pets can be contacted through email at cares4pets@hotmail.com and through writing to them at PO Box 31942, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
