Hand2PawHand2Paw is a non-profit animal welfare group that urges young adults in Philadelphia to volunteer in various animal shelters in the city. It introduces the youth to the multitude of ways in which they can help make a difference in the lives of furry friends in need. As a result, more companion animals are able to receive hours of care, training, grooming, and socialization ensuring that they remain stimulated, happy, and behaviorally sound while waiting for their forever home.

The organization also educates the youth on the importance of providing veterinary care, vaccinations, and spaying and neutering for all animals. In turn, they can share the knowledge they’ve gained with their peers, families, and communities.

Moreover, Hands2Paws gives young people a chance to have therapeutic experiences with companion animals. At the end of every group session, there is a “kitten holding time” which allows the participants to connect with a special feline.

In addition, the group also opens career opportunities for the youth in the animal care industry. Through their vast network of connections, their volunteers are able to land paying jobs that also allow them to work with and make a difference in the lives of furry friends every day.
