NY Pet Rescue is a non-profit organization that seeks to aid homeless, abandoned and neglected cats and dogs, to nurture them in the foster care of volunteers, to provide veterinary care and socialization, and to place them in permanent loving and responsible homes. As part of their endeavors, they support spaying and neutering pets to reduce animal over population in the area.
The group is composed of volunteer workers that foster dogs and cats until they are adopted into new and loving forever homes. They have been successful in re-homing abandoned, unwanted, and neglected animal companions into families that are more than able to provide for their special needs.
They work together with the Mount Vernon Animal Shelter to be able to rescue more neglected animals in the area. Moreover, they organize fundraising events, hold adoption days, and provide administrative assistance. They also support a dog training and evaluation program, and help find homes.
The animals that they rescue often come from owners who are no longer able to care for them, from hi-kill shelters, as well as from the streets. Some of the pets that they take in often arrive sick or injured. Pet Rescue does its best to provide veterinary care for these animals making them happier and healthier than ever before.
