Philadoptables is an independent, volunteer-driven, and non-profit organization that works together with the Philadelphia Animal Control Shelter that provides support for adoption, welfare, and outreach programs for the animals that are taken under their wing.
They aim to increase the number of animals saved through adoptions, fosters, and rescues from the Philadelphia animal control shelter, to improve conditions at the shelter by supporting essential services not funded by the City’s animal control budget, and to educate the public as well as to generate community involvement with the shelter and the animals in its care.
They promote the adoption of abandoned, neglected, or orphaned animals brought to shelters that they may have a second chance at having a full and happy life with a loving family.
They also urge people to become foster parents if they can’t adopt shelter animals to help address the problem of shelter overcrowding, providing special care and attention to injured or ill pets, and providing a temporary home to extremely young kittens or puppies.
Volunteers who wish to help out in their cause can help in cat socialization, dog socialization, grooming, off-site adoption events, and office work.
Since they have no paid officers or staff, they also rely on kind donations to help them save more animal lives. People who wish to donate can follow this link.
