A.D.O.P.T. is a private, “no-kill”, non-profit organization that has found homes for more than 20,000 pets. They provide a temporary, loving home for dogs and cats that no longer have a family of their own. The animals in their shelter have ended up here for a variety of reasons ranging from abandonment, to rescue from an abusive situation, to owner surrender because they no longer are able to take care of them. Their animals are loving, family pets who are desperately awaiting for their forever home.
A.D.O.P.T.’s mission shall be to improve the quality of life of animals and to place them into loving and permanent homes through rescue, extraordinary and compassionate care and humane education.
It also envisions a community where every pet has a permanent and loving home, every companion animal is spayed or neutered, and all pets are treated with respect and compassion.
As a charitable group, they are open for volunteers who wish to make a difference in the lives of animals in need. Some of the ways to help include providing animal care at the shelter, participating in the group’s foster care program, working data entry, facilities maintenance, becoming a front desk greeter, taking part in marketing and public relations as well as in fundrasing, managing the A.D.O.P.T. website as well as its affiliated social media, and being part of offsite activities as well as of the group’s humane education program.
Their shelter can be found at 420 Industrial Drive, Naperville, IL 60563 and they are open on weekdays from 9:00 in the morning to 5:00 in the afternoon.
They can be reached through phone at 630-355-2299 as well as through fax at 630-718-0564.
