The West Suburban Humane Society is an animal welfare organization, housing animals awaiting their forever home. It provides clean, safe accommodations for dogs and cats while they are waiting for adoption. The WSHS has helped lost and abandoned, and stray dogs and cats since 1972, utilizing the services of caring volunteers that help feed, foster, and care for them.
Located in Downers Grove, Illinois, the WSHS offers community services that help educate and enlighten children and adults on its important role in the community. Visitors are giving guides shelter tours that introduce them to the many animals that WSHS houses. The facility also provides an after school program, classes on dog safety and pet care, a junior volunteer summer camp, and a service called Party Pals that allows children to hold their birthday party at the shelter with up to 10 of their friends. This service provides children with a tour of the shelter. Attendees are asked to bring a supply needed to care for the animals when they arrive for the party.
The West Suburban Humane Society is open 6 days a week, closing on Wednesdays. Contact the West Suburban Humane Society for details on adoption, volunteering, or making donations.
