Best Friends Animal Society Los Angeles is a grassroots effort dedicated to finding loving homes for unadoptable cats and dogs and to reducing the number of unwanted companion animals in the area through effective spay and neuter programs. They work with other animal rescue groups, shelters, and individuals to be able to reach their mission of making Los Angeles a no-kill city.
Their programs include:
- No-Kill Los Angeles (NKLA)
A partnership of Best Friends Animal Society, animal rescue groups, city shelters, and members of the community that seeks to end the killing of healthy and treatable pets in L.A. shelters.
- Mobile Pet Adoptions
This is an effort to bring animals from their Pet Adoption Center closer to neighborhoods who may want to take in a new furry friend.
- Pup My Ride
This aims to transfer dogs from high-kill shelters to communities where they are most likely to find their new families.
No animal welfare advocate group is complete without its trusted foster parents. They provide the love, care, and basic needs that each tail-wagging friend needs while they are waiting to be placed in new homes.
- Community Animal Assistance (CAA)
This service provides resources to help members of the community to solve the challenges that they may encounter regarding their pets.
Their adoption center is located at 15321 Brand Blvd., Mission Hills, CA. 91345 and is open Sunday to Friday at 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday at 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. They can also be reached through phone at 818.643.3989. For more information, please visit their website at http://bfla.bestfriends.org.
