The Greyhound Pets of America (GPA)-Houston is a non-profit and volunteer-driven organization that aims to find responsible and loving homes for Greyhounds, to educate the public about the appeal of the breed as family pets, and to spread the word about the availability of this breed for adoption.
Their extensive adoption process allows companion animals and their potential new families to find a perfect match. This includes an application that may be done online or through mailing or faxing in a filled out application form, an office visit which acquaints the potential adoptive families to the behavior of greyhounds, a home visit to see if the applicant’s residence is fit for housing a dog, and then paying an adoption fee of $285 for greyhounds under the age of eight and $175 for those younger than the previously specified age.
Those who wish to help can also donate through filling out this donation form. All proceeds are used for taking care of the companion animals under GPA’s care and every dollar, no matter how big or small, is highly appreciated.
GPA-Houston’s mailing address is PO Box 741176, Houston, TX 77274. Their office is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm and on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. For more information, please visit their website at http://www.gpahouston.org/.
