Home at Last is a private, non-profit humane society located in The Dalles, Oregon in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. Started in 2000 by caring individuals who were concerned that too many dogs and cats were being euthanized in our community simply because they were homeless, Home at Last was born with nothing more than a firm belief that there was a better way to treat the needy pets in their community and a firm commitment to make these changes happen.
Fast forward to 2015 and you will find them in there current location (the building was previously the Wasco County Animal Shelter) caring for hundreds of animals each year. They take in all stray animals brought to them by The Dalles Police, Wasco Co. Police, Sherman Co. Police, and many more, and accept as many owner released pets as possible, space permitting. All of their animals receive vaccinations, are spayed or neutered if needed, receive any needed medical treatment and are microchipped before they are adopted. They also receive the love and attention they need from there caring staff, and volunteers, daily.
