Klein Shelter is a non-profit animal welfare group serving East Texas animals in need of care and permanent loving homes. Its mission is to reduce the number of homeless animals in Cherokee County through public awareness and the provision of adequate sanctuary, to passionately promote adoption of healthy, behaviorally-sound animals, to maintain an accessible sterilization program, and to provide painless euthanasia when necessary.
They evaluate every animal for health and temperament upon intake. Healthy animals with good temperaments are placed in their adoption program. Those animals with health or temperament issues who cannot be placed in our adoption program are placed with qualified rescue groups better equipped to deal with their individual needs. They euthanize as a last resort after they have exhausted all resources.
Their adoptions, rescue alliances and various outreach programs enable us to hold adoptable animals with no pre-determined time limits. On average, animals stay with them for 90 days with many staying much longer.
They can be reached through phone at 903-586-7336, through email at firstname.lastname@example.org, and through snail mail at P.O. Box 294, Jacksonville, TX 75766. Their shelter can be found at 208 East Tena Street and they are open from Monday to Friday at 10 am to 5 pm and on Saturdays at 10 am to 1 pm.
