red collarAccording to recent studies, it’s estimated that roughly 7.6 companion animals are entered into shelters each year. Of these, 3.9 million were dogs and 3.4 million were cats.  Thankfully 2.7 million of them are adopted each year, but leaves 4.9 animals that remain. Sadly, around 2.7 million are euthanized.

Red Collar Rescue and Its Mission

Red Collar Rescue offers a safe haven (and often is the last resort) for stray dogs and cats who are left in the pound or on the streets to die. They are based in the Houston area and are foster-based. They work with city, county and private animal control and animal shelters to reduce the number of deaths associated with stray dogs and cats each year.

Compatibility

Red Collar Rescue also has a foster program in which part of their in-take process consist of animals being taken for what they refer to as their “the works” process comprised of a variety of testing, vaccines and a variety of other areas.  Red Collar Rescue works hard to prepare these animals to be ready for adoption by going through a compatibility process to match dogs and cats with the best family available.  For more information contact the Red Collar Rescue today.
