The San Antonio Humane Society (SAHS) is a non-profit, no-kill organization that has served Bexar County and its surrounding areas since 1952. They rescue, provide shelter, and rehabilitate up to 5,000 injured, abused, or abandoned companion animals each year. They have adoption, foster care, and education programs that not only helps in making a difference in the lives of furry kind in the area but also let members of the community learn responsible pet ownership. Additionally, they also support spaying and neutering as a way of solving the problem of animal overpopulation in the area.
Volunteers are welcome to be a part of the organization. Interested parties must be at least 15 years old in order to apply as a volunteer and must pay orientation fees of $25 (general) and $15 (service, active duty military, and immediate family); helping out at the shelter counts as community service hours for school, work, church or court.
People can also help through making safe credit card donations via PayPal.
