South Carolina Awareness and Rescue for Equines

South Carolina Awareness and Rescue for Equines, Inc., (SCARE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in early 2000 that is dedicated to providing public awareness and education concerning the welfare of equines, and to work with county Humane Society Chapters, Animal Control Offices and Law Enforcement Offices in South Carolina to guarantee the welfare and safety of all equines in the state.

S.C.A.R.E., Inc. assists in the investigation of equine abuse and/or neglect cases in South Carolina and will provide responsible foster / adoptive homes and quality rehabilitative care for equines in need.

Interested parties can help through donating items such as:

  • Blankets
  • De-wormers – Various
  • Senior Feed
  • Hay
  • Minerals
  • Sand Clear or similar product
  • Lead Ropes
  • Gently used tack and barn items to be sold at fundraisers

People can also donate financially via PayPal.

Apart from donating, interested parties can also volunteer in order to help the group in their cause. Interested parties can provide a safe layover facility for horses in need, visiting horses in foster care to help with grooming, transporting one or more equines either locally or statewide, providing temporary quarantine facilities or meeting space, and helping with special events.
